Sport has always been a vital part of Nidhi's life, providing the structure, routine, and mental clarity she need to navigate daily challenges. As someone with ADHD, physical activity helps her channel her hyperactive energy in a positive way, supporting her mental health and well-being.

Nidhi created the @nidsruns Instagram account after receiving a spot in the 2024 London Marathon, to run for the National Autistic Society. Throughout this journey, she has learned a great deal about running, not just as a sport but as a means of personal growth and resilience.
While many athletes share their journeys online, Nidhi noticed a lack of voices from the neurodivergent community discussing how their unique experiences shape their approach to sport. This became even more apparent when she got injured just before the marathon. Her hypermobility, often linked to neurodivergence, led to increased injuries, significantly impacting her mental health.
@nidsruns has since evolved into a space where Nidhi shares her runs, sporting activities, and insights on how being neurodivergent influences her approach to sport and life.
We, at Behind The Smiles, believe sport should be inclusive for all, and we are committed to discussing the challenges and triumphs that come with this. By being open about personal experiences, we hope to connect with others on similar journeys and promote the idea that everyone can find their place in the world of sport.
